This weeks lecture on "The Great Crash of 1929 and the Making of the New Deal", will be given by Prof. Gary Darden. This lecture will cover the crash of the US stock market in OCt1929 which triggered both a domestic and global depressions that profoundly shaped the 1930s. Its chief domestic consequence was to unleash public support for dramatic political change in the 1932 election. FDR's landslide enabled the Democratic Party to pass a battery of reforms that once seemed radical and impossible. It dramatically altered the relationship between business and the federal government.
