Assistance in Living in Lakewood, NJ
Assisted Care with Indepenance
Harrogate approaches Assisted Living much differently than many other senior living communities. While other communities separate the Assisted Living and Independent Living neighborhoods, Harrogate has reversed that idea and has established our own program called Assistance in Living Support. Residents who need assistance can remain in their apartment home, and local home health care providers stop into the apartment to provide support. That means married couples who each have different care needs can continue to live together. The health care provider address the different care needs of the couple by providing whatever support they each require. It’s as easy as that!
This model also supports aging in place, meaning residents do not need to move to another level of care if they begin to need some assistance with daily activities. Instead, supportive services are brought directly to them in the home they already know and enjoy.
Through an on-site private duty care program, residents can access personalized support with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, medication reminders, mobility assistance, and other routine needs. What makes this approach unique is that care hours are bundled and shared among a small group of residents—typically two or three people in similar situations who need occasional assistance but remain largely independent.
Because the care time is shared, residents benefit from the presence of professional caregivers at a significantly lower cost than traditional one-on-one private duty care. This collaborative model allows communities to offer dependable support while keeping services affordable and flexible.
Residents continue to enjoy all the benefits of independent living—including their private apartment, community amenities, social activities, and freedom of schedule—while having the reassurance that extra help is available when needed
