At every age and fitness level, it’s essential to keep the body moving every day. Harrogate Village deeply supports exercise as a valuable asset to preserving your health and helping to offset medical issues.
Fitness and wellness offerings are carefully planned to be fun, socially engaging and enriching. From the 24-hour fitness and indoor aquatics center with heated 75-foot Junior Olympic pool and hot spa to invigorating group stretching and fitness classes, the weather will never keep you from staying fit and flexible at Harrogate Village.
Engaging sport, exercise and recreational amenities
At Harrogate Village, you’ll find a resort-style array of fantastic outdoor amenities, including a 1,000-square-foot putting green and driving range net, shuffleboard, bocce and croquet courts. You’ll find the sporting equipment on-hand, so you don’t have to store anything at home.
Enjoy a spirited or leisurely bike ride? Just check out a beach cruiser or 3-wheeler from the Harrogate Bike Share, which works like the Citi Bike program in NYC — minus the rental fee!
Or if you prefer to keep it simple, you’ll find lighted walking and biking trails and sidewalks throughout the community where you can enjoy a car-free stroll, day or night.
On-site group fitness designed for people (not just older people)
While group fitness opportunities are continuously refreshed, these core programs are especially popular:
- Aqua Fitness is a 45-minute cardio and strength program that works all the muscles in the body while working against the water to improve overall fitness and balance.
- Get Hip, Don’t Slip is a balance program for all levels of fitness, whether you want to strengthen or maintain your balance.
- Basic Strength improves upper body strength using lightly weighted dumbbells.
- Stretch and Core Exercise focuses on the importance of stretching muscles to allow better mobility and strength while working on specific core exercises to decrease pain and tightness in common areas.
- Exercise for Arthritis is a program designed not only for those who have arthritis but for everyone looking to improve joint mobility and overall muscle strength in affected areas.
- Meditation, Tai Chi and Qi Gong sessions are led by a Tai Chi/Qi Gong Master.
Harrogate’s Fitness Center also includes SmartBalance, the latest balance assessment and improvement technology designed specifically to help residents measure their fall risk and practice exercises that help minimize falls and avoid injury. These one-on-one assessments are pre-scheduled and overseen by Harrogate’s staff Fitness& Wellness coordinator.
