Applewood Bike Drive Partnership Raises $8K for Kids
On Nov. 13, in partnership with resident distance cyclist Spencer Halper, Applewood Village hosted a bicycle donation drive. The drive benefitted the NJ Boys & Girls Club Bike Exchange, a resale located in Capitol Plaza, 1500 N Olden Avenue Ext., Ewing Township.
The organization refurbishes used bikes for resale at affordable prices to adults and children. All proceeds are donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County to support youth education and workforce training.
Donations included a recumbent three-wheeler trike, vintage tandem bike, racing models and two new bikes still in the box.
“As a not-for-profit organization, Applewood Village has a social responsibility to make a significant contribution to our local community and our world,” says Courtney Paul, Engaged Living™ manager. “Depending on the need, we provide resident and staff expertise, in-person manpower, handcrafted products, product purchases and financial support.”

Sales & Marketing Director introduces senior living sales and marketing opportunities to Healthcare Professions Pathway Program
Applewood Village is committed to partnering with the local community to support the future of the senior care industry. In 2021, we launched an educational program with the Freehold Regional School District to help students learn that career opportunities in senior living extend far beyond nursing and clinical care.
“By 2060, nearly one in four Americans will be age 65+,” explains Jennifer Kohan, Sales & Marketing Director at Applewood Village. “The opportunities to build a fulfilling and lucrative career in the managed care industry have never been stronger.” According to a report by the US Census Bureau, New Jersey’s 60+ population is growing more rapidly than any other population, increasing by 30 percent since 2012.
Jennifer recently spoke with Healthcare Professions Pathway Program (HPPP) junior students at the Freehold and Manalapan High Schools. She discussed how the sales process for senior living is more about learning who prospective residents are and how personal background and legacy wishes shapes decision-making. Students role-played various conversations to learn more about prospective residents to uncover their individual stories. Previously, Assisted Living Dining Services managers met with students to discuss their roles and employment journeys leading to the senior care industry.
