Everyday Places that Offer Senior Discounts NJ

Saving money is generally a good thing—that’s something that everybody can probably agree on. What’s even better is saving money on common expenses like eating out, shopping, travel, or sightseeing.  For residents of Applewood, finding senior discounts in New Jersey comes easy since there are plenty of stores and organizations that make it easy to save money.

So, whether you’re looking to cut down on travel expenses on the New Jersey Turnpike, want to explore some of New Jersey’s state parks, or you’re simply looking to cut down on eating out costs, we’ve put together a list of some of the best senior discounts that are available in New Jersey.

Senior Citizen Discount Program for E-ZPass

Here’s a senior discount that can save you a ton of money in 2019.  This is a great program to sign-up for if you or your friends are frequent travelers on the New Jersey Turnpike and already own a New Jersey E-ZPass. To participate, drivers must meet the specified age requirements, own an existing New Jersey E-ZPass account, have a valid driver’s license issued by any state (doesn’t have to specifically be a New Jersey license), and have a vehicle registered in their name.

To apply for your Senior Citizen Discount Program for E-ZPass, all you need to do is send copies of the required documentation (driver’s license and vehicle registration) along with a completed application form to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.  While there isn’t a specific percentage of savings listed, drivers enrolled in the senior discount will receive a discount on the full fare of off-peak tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.  A nice bonus of this discount is that drivers don’t have to live in New Jersey to qualify for this discount, so friends and family who are coming to visit can also benefit if they meet the application criteria!

New Jersey State Park Senior Discount

With springtime well on its way, it will soon be time to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful scenery that New Jersey has to offer. What better way to do this than to explore the state’s very own state parks? While some of New Jersey’s State Parks are free, there are many that require additional fees for particular activities like picnicking or boating.  If you qualify for the New Jersey State Park Senior Discount, you’re in luck! This senior discount grants free entrance to all state parks as well as discounted camping rates.  For New Jersey residents, a state park pass for New Jersey typically costs upwards of $50 each year, so you could be looking at some big savings if you apply for this senior discount!

In order to apply, you just need to submit an application along with either a driver’s license or government issued ID. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection states that senior state park passes can be obtained at any state park in New Jersey state park or forest offices, or at the Trenton office – which is just under 30 miles from Freehold, NJ.  There are plenty of state parks in New Jersey, but the closest one in Freehold is Monmouth Battlefield State Park.
