Senior Living During COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly changed our lives and turned our day-to-day routines upside down. From the way we interact with family and friends to how we spend time in public—life looks a lot different than it did before 2020. Something that hasn’t changed, though, is the safety and security a senior living community can provide.

It may seem like making the move to a Life Plan community during a pandemic would put your loved one’s safety at risk, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Life Plan communities, like Fellowship Village, have worked around the clock to ensure the appropriate precautions and protocols are in place to keep residents healthy and safe.

How Fellowship Village is Keeping Residents Safe

If your loved one is considering a senior living community, your top question right now probably has to do with how safe the community is during a crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. For Fellowship Village, specifically, the short answer to this important question is yes.

Throughout 2020 and into the new year, Fellowship Village has gone above and beyond in following the proper COVID-19 precautions to help keep residents as safe as possible. Some of our protocols and safety measures we’ve taken include:

  • In-house COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics onsite for residents
  • No indoor visitation to our Health Center during any outbreaks or high community spread, except for end-of-life or compassionate care situations
  • Outdoor visitation only by appointment in our covered and heated porch at Wilson’s Tapas Bar Lounge.
  • PCR (nasal swab) COVID-19 weekly testing for all Fellowship Village team members and Health Center residents
  • Antibody testing for all residents across our campus and team members
  • Daily screening of all team members on campus
  • Screening of all personnel, support services and patients to the Health Center
  • Continued monitoring of CDC, CMS and NJDOH updates about appropriate COVID-19 response

Hear from Fellowship Village Residents

While our safety protocols are important to discuss, residents are our real source of truth. After all, who better to share what life is really like at Fellowship Village right now than the residents, themselves?

Here is what three of our residents had to say about living at Fellowship Village during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic:

“I feel incredibly fortunate to be here, where protective measures were instituted much earlier than I would have adopted them on my own; where my needs are so well provided for that I rarely need to go out; where medical help is available 24/7; where in-house televised entertainment, information and inspiration mitigate my isolation; and where my daily walk is in the midst of such natural beauty.” —Helen Beglin, Resident

“We are so grateful to the staff and administration at Fellowship Village for their very early and total response to the challenges of COVID-19. They were way ahead of so many senior facilities in imposing restrictions and safety measures that, we are convinced, saved many of our lives.” —Judy Pasnik, Resident

“Here at Fellowship Village, I think that leadership has taken strong control of the situation to eliminate COVID-19 successfully. This has extended down to the residents who are all doing their part to mitigate the spread. We would have been as risk if these measures were not put into place. Communication throughout the pandemic has been often and impressive.” —Ron Whalin, Resident
