Are you looking for ways to give back to your community? You’re not alone! After years of isolation during the pandemic, many of us are ready to return to activities that make us feel good while helping others. One great way to help others is to volunteer at a senior living community. As New Jersey’s premier provider of life plan communities, FellowshipLIFE has a wide range of senior living volunteer opportunities. No matter what your skills and interests, there is a perfect fit for everyone.

Benefits of Being a Senior Living Volunteer

Did you know that volunteering comes with significant health benefits? It’s true! Volunteering is linked to both mental and physical health benefits. Studies have shown volunteers have stronger social connections, which increases happiness and reduces anxiety and depression. Volunteering is also linked to lower blood pressure and greater physical activity, which in turn help reduce heart disease. When you add up all of these benefits, it’s no wonder volunteers tend to enjoy longer lifespans!

Senior Living Volunteer Roles

When you become a volunteer at a senior living community, you get to choose how to use your talents to make the best use of your time. Think about the skills you have honed in your professional and personal life. Each of our FellowshipLIFE communities is always looking for people who like to:

  • Chat: You can visit lonely residents.
  • Play: You could lead recreational activities like games, puzzles, and bingo nights.
  • Perform: Use your talents to entertain.
  • Teach: Share your special skills by leading a class or seminar.
  • Walk: Accompany residents to events or for strolls on the grounds.
  • Organize: Assist with office tasks, seasonal decorating or serving as a greeter.
  • Comfort: Provide companionship to hospice patients and their families.

Volunteer at FellowshipLIFE

FellowshipLIFE has four unique communities for you to choose from to find the senior living volunteer experience you’re looking for.

  • Fellowship Village: Join our Basking Ridge residents for Thursday and Sunday worship services, share your talents in music and crafts, or become a tech tutor to help residents stay connected.
  • Friends Village: Make new friends of your own at our vibrant Woodstown community, where you can try your hand at bingo and Wii bowling, or join our pet visitors program with your furry companion.
  • Pines Village: Our Whiting community is the ideal place for high school and religious education volunteers to gain hands-on experience working with residents or helping behind the scenes.
  • Riverwalk Village: Play games, lead discussions, or teach your favorite skills to the residents of our Hackettstown life plan community.

Many of our communities also accept pastoral volunteers to tend to our residents’ spiritual needs. We welcome exceptionally compassionate individuals to support patients in hospice care in Basking Ridge.
